when I try to go to my public page it says page not found so i am not sure what link to use for registration

Sorry to hear you are having trouble with your Public Page, once the page has been published the link is displayed in a field under "Public Page Information", which can be found by going to Promote --> Edit Public Page. Just copy the link and you can use it on your church website or wherever else you would like to promote you event.
