Usage rights for digital library for our church's website

I found an answered question regarding using clipart images for a VBS Program on a church's public website. From the Usage Rights for Digital Library, I too had the impression that all downloaded digital content was included. Am I to understand that it is permissible to use any digital clipart images for our VBS (The Great Jungle Journey) on our church's website - a public site? we are very careful about copyright and usage rights. Thank you for your time and consideration

Hello,

Happy to help! Below is the Usage Rights for the Digital Pro Library:

"All files in this library are for use within your own organization. A local church is considered an "organization," but an entire denomination or satellite church is not considered part of the "organization." You may not redistribute or resell any of the items in this library outside your own organization.

We have provided a variety of logo options for you to use in promoting your VBS program. You have permission to use these logos in any way that pertains to your VBS but may not resell or redistribute the logos to other organiza-tions. You will also find images to use on various social media platforms in order to advertise your VBS.

You have permission to:

  • Download and store the digital files as an archive copy.
  • Distribute the digital files to individuals within your own organization for your own organization's use.
  • Purchase additional music downloads (from AnswersVBS.com) for extended use within your organization.

You do not have permission to (unless stated otherwise in the resource):

  • Place any digital file in this library on a website, server, or other platform that is accessible to the public or anyone outside of your organization.
  • Place any digital file in this library on a social media site, file-sharing site outside your own organization (but you may share files on a private organization-based file-sharing platform for use within leaders of your own organization), media streaming site, or other public-accessible site.
  • Prepare, copy, use, promote, sell, or distribute any derivative work of any of the videos or resources.

Can I post the Answers VBS videos on my website?

  • You may embed Answers VBS promotional videos on your own web. site to promote your own VS event online but may not offer them as downloads on your website. You may not embed or offer for download any other Answers VBS video on your own website. To share Answers VBS videos outside of your own private organization, you may link to a file from the Answers VBS YouTube Channel (YouTube.com/AnswersVBS) or Answers VBS Facebook page(Facebook.com/AnswersVBS). Should you post an Answers VBS video on your own YouTube or Facebook page, it will be flagged for copyright violations.

Can I distribute the Answers VBS videos to parents or volunteers online?

  • Distributing music video or audio files to persons outside your organization is a violation of copyright laws. You may not distribute these or other resources online publicly. You can purchase multiple copies of music CDs or music download licenses for this purpose from AnswersVBS.com"

Please let us know if you have any further questions or issues!

Blessings,

Benjamin

Good morning,

I am very grateful for your reply. While it was thoughtful of you to include the stated Usage Rights for the Digital Pro Library (which I had read thoroughly prior to my question), it did not truly address the issue I raised.

Our VBS Director had purchased the Great Jungle Journey package including access to VBS Digital.  When I mentioned the concern about Usage Rights for our church's website, she referred me to this information: https://answersingenesis.org/vbs/digital/ - please note the first bullet point in the grey box listing the free tools - "Promotion tools to post on your church website and social media platforms".

As a result I consulted your VBS Digital Forum to try to resolve the seeming conflict of information. On the forum I found this question and answer which seemed very similar to our situation: https://myanswers.userecho.com/communities/1/topics/5547-promotional-materials-usage

This answer by one of the Business Analysts at Answers in Genesis seems to grant rights to clip art and logos for use on a church website. I realize the Usage Rights statement was not changed to reflect this.

It seems that the first link I included here, is misleading in that it promises something which violates the stated usage policy. I am very disappointed that we will will not be able to include the digital clipart and logos from Answers in Genesis on our own church's website to build "branded"  advertising, participant registration forms, volunteer recruitment and sign ups, and materials donation forms which will allow our church family to stay within a trusted and oft used website with which they are familiar.

I am hopeful that Answers in Genesis will please consider this request for permission to use the digital clipart and logos for use on our church's website, as we were led to believe would be allowed in the promotional materials for the VBS program. I also am hopeful that this can be resolved in a timely manner.

We deeply value and appreciate your ministry, and we pray for continued blessings for Answers in Genesis in future endeavors.
