Promotional Banners & Widgets for church website
Are the Banners & Countdown Widgets that were available to post on our websites to promote VBS going to be available soon to post on our church website & public page?
Answer
For now, we have the logos available for download under the Library section of Digital Director.
The sizes and types of banners that we made available in the old VBS Manager seemed out of date to us. People tend to use larger images today, and use them somewhat differently.
What sizes and types of banners would be most useful to you?
Where would you be likely to use them? Your church website? Facebook?....
For the last three years, we used the Countdown (Days) Widget as well as the VBS Banner to promote our VBS within our Website. We'd like to use something similar to not only promote it within our church website, but also our church's Facebook Page. Will something like this be available. I believe it worked really well as kids (at least in our area) would look at the "Countdown Days for VBS!"
I'm not sure what banners and widgets we will have available for the initial release of Digital Director. I have passed your comments on to the design team.
Anyone else who has thoughts on what you'd like to see, please leave a comment. We really want your input.
I checked with our design team. We won't be able to have these available by the time the beta test period ends in a few weeks. It is still tentatively scheduled to be done for this VBS season, but I don't have a good estimate for a time frame.
Thanks for the update. Do you have a small logo we could publish on online? The current logos are too large, even the small ones, to add to our website. I'd like to have at least the logo along with the link to my registration, at least until the countdown banner becomes available.
Is this something you can provide soon?
Here are more web-friendly versions of the logo files:
OHH I love the idea of a countdown widget for a Facebook page. I am thinking like the Cover Photo. I make a Facebook page for our VBS. it is great because it is so easy for others to share and then we link it to the registration page.
Hi Brad...
I received your email update that the countdown widget is now available ~~ Thank You!
I think I'm "missing it" as I don't see it on the promote page. My only links are the promote overview and edits of the public, volunteer and student pages. Can you check to make sure I'm not missing it or if I'm looking for it in the wrong place?
You're not missing it. There were issues, and we had to pull it back down. We're working on a new version that should be available in the next update in a few weeks.
The Countdown widget is available. Go yo the "Promote" section and look for "Promotion Tools" in the left menu. That page provides the code you'll need to put a countdown on your church webpage. You'll need to provide that code to the person who manages your church website.
Yes, thank you. I saw it yesterday as I was going thru my site. I've sent it in to my guy and will let you know if he has any issues with it.
Thanks again...
It definitely does, you'll have to place it in a field that accepts HTML on your website though.
I copied the whole code, pasted it where it says to paste HTML, saved the HTML. It shows is 'countdown to Operation Arctic' but no countdown. What am I missing?
Marsha,
Do you have an example of the problem somewhere we can see it? Is it on your website somewhere?
We see the problem. There is an incompatibility between our code and the existing code on your website. There is no quick fix. Our Javascript developer will work on it, but it will probably be several weeks.
Thank you for checking on that for me. I know our website does have it's limitations. We have always been able to download the counter in the past with no problems and I like having it on our homepage. I appreciate anything that can be done to help us out.
